['kaʊntətreɪd, englisch] der, -(s), Sammelbezeichnung für Tauschgeschäfte im Außenhandel, bei denen sich die Geschäftspartner verpflichten, gegenseitig Waren oder Dienstleistungen auszutauschen, abzunehmen oder für ihre Abnahme zu sorgen. Zum Countertrade zählen u. a. Barter-, Buy-back-, Kompensations- und Swapgeschäfte. Derartige Geschäfte spielen v. a. in den Beziehungen mit Entwicklungsländern und osteuropäischen Transformationsstaaten eine Rolle; ihr Anteil am Welthandel liegt bei rd. 10-15 %.
